ABOUT US
OUR STORY
Nourished Pastures is owned and operated by Guillermo in Miami, Florida. Guillermo started the farm originally to provide his family healthier meals while also raising his animals humanely. The farm was not originally conceived or started with the idea of making profit, but with the knowledge that what animals consume has a big effect on the nutrition of the food we eat and feed to our families.
Guillermo started out with a nutritional background as a health coach. He was all too aware of how conventionally raised animals were not provided the proper living conditions; and therefore were not allowing people to eat food the way nature intended. In addition, not only were these animals poorly raised, but how they are raised is causing devastating damage to the planet.
That is why Guillermo made a decision to begin raising 30 baby chicks, which were gone in a blink of an eye. Having shared these delicious meals with family and friends, word quickly began circulating and Guillermo was encouraged to raise even more chickens. That continued hard work and success has turned into the mission of Nourished Pastures, which has helped guide them in only providing ethically raised animals — the way nature intended.
‘‘My love for animals and the excessive animal cruelty practice by the food industry today steered me away from the consumption of animal products for long time after educating myself, I incessantly searched for ethically raised chickens with no luck thats when I decided to raise them locally here in Miami the way it should be done’’
Farming is a beautiful craft, I would say its essential to human well-being. When it comes down to it, I love farming, working on the ground in the sun with the animals, seeing them grow and thrive, the full circle of life, and the personalities in the creatures I take care of, whom in return take care of me. We are grateful for all the people that have become customers of Nourished pastures, we want you to know we are here to serve you. You have all become more like friends and family and we truly don’t know where we would be without you. We are here because of you and we will continue for you.
SEE OUR PRODUCTSOUR PRACTICES
Our livestock thrive in our loving and spacious South Florida environment. Each animal is allowed to roam and do what each species does best. The animals love our open farm which mimics the wild nature and gives every animal ample space.
Due to the fact that these animals are raised in this healthy open manner vaccines, growth hormones or antibiotics are unnecessary to ensure their well-being—nature is their medicine. Also, humane animal handling is one of our top priorities; after all, when livestock and man coexist in a stress-free environment, it provides for a higher quality of life for all involved and it is that level of quality that will be demonstrated in all our products.

MOVEMENT IS IMPORTANT
Pastured poultry is MORE than cage-free, free-range, or outdoor access among many other labels the food industry has come up with to capture buyer’s attentions It’s also more than giant barns with pasture access, buildings with concrete sun porches and fancy packaging. Opening the same doors on the same barns day in and day out does not meet the single most important and basic qualifier of pastured poultry, and that is MOVEMENT, MOVEMENT, MOVEMENT
Regular, movement to fresh pasture its hard to replicate it takes human labor and hands on farming practices. In return we get healthy birds. Birds that don’t need antibiotics, vaccines or chlorine baths, because they have immune systems and plenty of fresh air and sun. Daily movement is imperative for health and hygiene, and spreading manure into the pasture which in turns gives the right to say we are regenerative farmers.
Our chicks arrive at the farm the day after hatching and are kept in a brooder with supplemental heat until about 2 weeks old. They are then moved to the pasture in mobile, open floored pens that are moved daily to a fresh patch to give them access to insects and green forage. The open floored pen allows natural foraging all while providing them with shelter from inclement weather, shade, and protection from predators.

WHY OUR POULTRY IS DIFFERENT
We are members of APPPA (American Pastured Poultry Producers Association). Below are videos they have produced to help educate on the importance of pastured poultry and why what we do makes a difference.
